I am so tired.

Last night, Liam, Jean-Luc and I pulled a St John shit from 10 pm - about 7 am today and my eye's are burning. I thought I wouldn't make it through the night, I thought that maybe I'd get some uni work/readings done, I thought I'd be okay...

Lol, look at me being all dramatic. We were providing first aid at the Oxfam Trailwalker, which for those who don't know, is a 100 km walk/hike/run in 48 hours. You head in with a team of 4 or more, and for you to receive a certificate of completion or something your entire squad has to pass the 100 km mark within 48 hours.

We were placed at check point 5, 70 km in. So the people who came to us had completed 70% of the walk. The night was kind of slow, we were just chilling with the people who had the shift before us til about 12 am, treating only 2 or 3 people with blisters on their feet. Then at around 230 am we started getting waves of people coming in, mainly for blisters but we had a lot of muscle aches and a handful of hypothermia's. What sucked was they had either ice packs or heat blankets on and they had to sit around the post for at least 20 mins and at certain points it became so crowded and people kept coming and going that our post wasn't empty for a good 3 hours. It was insane. But the night went by so quickly.

All of a sudden it was 453 am and it hit me that we only had two hours to go. But the people didn't stop coming in, and the feet were smelly, but at least I felt really useful. It was my first duty as a first responder too, so I doned the very flattering 'greens' uniform. It felt weird having people ask me what to do. But after each person treated a patient or two, we were all really independent.

I remember throughout the morning, I was sort of just in my own world, treating and getting people out as fast as possible cos they didn't want to stop. They all wanted to finish. I was really inspired (but would no way in hell do the walk myself lol). Anyway, I didn't talk to Liam at all for 3 hours and I only spoke to JL once from memory. On the ride home, Liam was like "Jess, you were in the zone. I didn't want to disturb you" LOL I guess that's why the morning flew by.

It was such a fun shift. So much better than any of the roundhouse stuff we do and other state events like Vivid... lol vivid.

Anyway, I didn't get to muck around too much in the first 2-3 weeks of uni just cos it was so cold :( but I feel like I've become so much closer to my uni mates because I'm basically at Wallace 24/7 now. I haven't seen my group all together in such a long time, but I have seen most people individually at different points.

Bobs, Trinh and I went to Andrew McMahon's gig last Saturday!! It was such a happy evening. I remember listening to a podcast where he was the interviewee when I was in year 9 maybe, and the interviewer said something along the lines of "Andrew McMahon can sing about the Holocaust and make it sound happy". And I think he really can. His music is so feel good and he's got such a captivating presence on stage. He's an amazing performer. Would defs go see him again. He played my 2 fave Jacks Mannequin and Something Corporate songs!!! I was over the moon!!

Anyway, pics up soon. I only had 5 hours of sleep, maybe that's why my eyes are stinging.

Have so many assessments (lol jk only 2. but they're super hard! :()

Photo post soon
